Enrico Tommaso Cucchiani is an Italian banker and business executive, founder of TGI Think Global Investments. [1]
Education and Career
Originally from Milan, born in 1950, Enrico Tommaso Cucchiani graduated in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan and obtained a Master in Business Administration from Stanford University. Subsequently, he focused on the economic strategies of multinational companies at Harvard University.
He began his career in the financial sector in 1976, working for Citibank, McKinsey & Company, and Morgan Stanley. In 2005, he became president of Allianz S.p.A. and joined the Management Board of Allianz SE, responsible for the insurance markets in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, and South America, as well as the strategic development and restructuring program of the insurance group.
In December 2011, he was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo, the largest Italian bank by capitalization. During his tenure, he focused on strengthening the bank's capital, reducing costs and non-performing loans, and increasing profitability.
The Birth of TGI
After leaving Intesa Sanpaolo in September 2013, Cucchiani dedicated himself to entrepreneurial and social activities. In 2014, he founded TGI Think Global Investments, a strategic and financial consulting company. In 2018, he became president of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, a position he held until July 2021. In 2020, he joined the Board of Directors of Illycaffè S.p.A. as vice president. In 2021, he was elected to the Board of Directors of Terna as an independent director.
Awards and Memberships
Cucchiani was appointed Knight of Labor in 2008. He is a member of the General Council of the Aspen Institute Italy, the Advisory Council of Stanford University, the Trilateral Commission, and the Executive Committee of the Council for Relations between Italy and the United States. He is also president of the Trieste Business School MIB School of Management.
