Andrea Guerra is an Italian business executive, current CEO of Prada. [1]
Education and early career
Born in Milan on May 26, 1965, Andrea Guerra graduated in Economics and Commerce from Sapienza University of Rome in 1989. He began his career at Marriott Italia, where he became marketing director. In 1994, he joined Merloni Elettrodomestici, where he worked on various projects, including logistics and the Turkish market. In 2000, he became CEO of the group, which was renamed Indesit, succeeding Francesco Caio.
Success with Luxottica
In 2004, he was called by Leonardo Del Vecchio to lead Luxottica, the world leader in eyewear. Under his management, Luxottica's stock value rose from 14 to 40 euro, and revenue increased from 2.8 to over 7 billion euros. Andrea Guerra was recognized as one of the “25 stars of business” by the Financial Times in 2004 and as the second best CEO in Italy by Thomson Reuters Exter in 2014. He left the company on September 1, 2014, after ten years of success.
Other experiences and current roles
In addition to Luxottica, Guerra has held various positions in other companies and institutions. He has been a board member of Parmalat, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, DeA Capital, Amplifon, Ariston Thermo Group, and Bocconi University. He was also a member of the strategic committee of the Italian Strategic Fund and a strategic advisor to the Renzi government for industrial policies and relations with the business community.
From 2016 to 2020, he was executive chairman of Eataly, at the request of Oscar Farinetti, who wanted to entrust the company to his children and Guerra. In January 2020, he left Eataly, remaining for a transitional period.
Since 2020, he has been CEO of LVMH Hospitality Excellence and a member of the executive committee. Since January 2021, he has also been responsible for Fendi and Loro Piana.
Since January 26, 2023, he has been CEO of Prada.
