Francesco Milleri is an Italian business executive, current Executive Chairman and CEO of Essilorluxottica. [1]
Born in 1959 in Città di Castello, Italy, Francesco Milleri is a manager and consultant specialized in Corporate Finance, and since 2016 he has been the CEO of EssilorLuxottica, the largest company in the optics sector worldwide.
Education and beginnings
Francesco Milleri graduated with honors in law from the University of Florence and holds a master's degree in business administration from Bocconi University in Milan. He then continued his studies in the United States, where he received a "Donato Menichella" scholarship and specialized in corporate finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Career in consulting
In 1988, Francesco Milleri began working as a business consultant for major multinational companies and Italian groups, operating in various sectors such as mechanics, consumer goods, finance, and pharmaceuticals. In 1996, he founded Abstract (formerly MeA or Milleri e Associati), a strategic consulting firm focused on business processes. Abstract collaborated with various healthcare facilities, including San Raffaele in Milan and the university hospital of Ferrara, and in 2006 acquired iDoq, the company that owns the digitization platform Lucy Star.
Entry into Luxottica and EssilorLuxottica
Among Abstract's clients was also Luxottica, the group founded by Leonardo Del Vecchio, which entrusted Francesco Milleri with the company's digital transformation project. This project involved the migration to SAP technology of almost all Luxottica's activities across different geographical areas, the integration of systems and working methods, and the simplification and optimization of processes and flows. In 2016, Leonardo Del Vecchio appointed Francesco Milleri as a director with deputy functions and brought him into Luxottica as vice president. In January 2018, Francesco Milleri became CEO of Luxottica. Under his leadership, the operation that led to the merger between Luxottica and Essilor was completed, creating EssilorLuxottica, the largest company in the optics sector worldwide. Initially, Francesco Milleri served as co-CEO of EssilorLuxottica, and he was confirmed as CEO in May 2021.
Chairmanship of Delfin
In July 2022, following the passing of Leonardo Del Vecchio, Francesco Milleri was also appointed chairman of Delfin, the holding company of the EssilorLuxottica group.

Francesco Milleri is also a member of the board of directors of the Leonardo Del Vecchio Foundation.
